Gustav Stickley is considered one of the most important figures in the American Arts and Crafts movement. Most well known for his furniture designs, he was also very involved in the design and manufacture of metalwork to enhance the home. His metal shop created a wide array of lamps, desk sets, fire place items, jardinières, boxes, chargers, trays and hardware for his furniture. The majority of his work is signed with his ALS IK KAN (Latin for “as I can”) shopmarks.
